Cooke Tomlin
Hey, my name is Cooke Tomlin. I am a senior here at Madison Academic and a senior reporter on the Galloping Gazette staff. This is my first year on the staff. During my free time I work at Wash Town, hang out with friends, hunt, and play soccer. I love kereoke, hopscotch and long walks on the beach with my partner. So far I am unsure about my future college plans, but I plan to be signing with a school to play soccer!

Kyara Wortham
Kyara Wortham is a 17 year-old Junior at Madison Academic High. She took her first breath on January 4, 1995 in Jackson, TN. Her hobbies are reading, hanging out with friends, and talking on the phone. Her favorite color is blue and pink. She enjoys watching and playing basketball even though she is does not play it well. When she graduates she plans to attend the University of Memphis to pursue a career in Sociology.

Justin Pettigrew
Justin Pettigrew is a 17 year-old junior here at Madison. His hobbies include: working at Food Rite, spending time with his friends and family, and eating at Denny’s. One strange fact about Justin is that he loves to watch and play Poker.
Although Justin was forced to attend Madison, he has grown to love the school and its environment. He is unsure what college he wants to attend, but he is almost certain that he wants to become a Business Consultant.
In ten years, Justin wants to be a successful Business Consultant settled in Nashville, TN because he can remain close to his family. He knows the importance of having someone that he can depend on in his time of need. He also hopes to get to the point where he can help provide for his family members in their time of need. As for now, he just wants to work on himself.

Natalie is a seventeen year old senior at Madison Academic High School. She lives in Jackson, Tennessee and was born here on March 25, 1994. She plans on attending college after graduation to persue a career in nursing. She enjoy being outdoors, nature, and excercising.

Dominic Roberts
Dominic Roberts also known as Nic, was born June 3rd, 1995, in Jackson, TN. He is the fourth of 5 children of Jonas and Sharon Roberts, who are both from the state of Tennessee. He attended middle school at Tigrett and is a junior here. His sister, Mikki Roberts, is currently attending Madison as a senior.
In his spare time, he likes spending time with his friends and playing sports. He plays on JCM’s football team and Madison’s baseball team. He has a positive attitude when he plays sports and says that he likes doing it for fun and doesn’t plan on continuing in college.
Nic’s dream school is The University of Florida. He is a big fan of Gator football. He plans on becoming a Psychiatrist because he says that he thinks it’s something that he would be interested in, because he likes to help people.
Nic is currently unemployed but says that he wishes someone would hire him. For now, he is going to focus on his grades. He likes Madison because of the environment and the teachers at the school. At first, he didn’t want to attend Madison, but overtime he has grown to love it.

Ali Halford
Ali Halford is an eighteen year old senior at Madison Academic Magnet High School. She drives a Honda Civic to school and in her spare time she loves to sleep, text, tweet, and Facebook.
She loves eating Chick Fila, and watching movies with her friends, her favorites are The Notebook and Pearl Harbor. She has three siblings whom she says that she gets along with just fine, “for the most part”.
Ali’s favorite subject is math, which she excels in because it comes easy to her. Not only does Ali excel at the high school level, Ali has big plans for her future as well. She plans to go to college after high school and go through a nursing program. She hopes to become an NICU nurse.
Ali is enthusiastic about playing a part on the journalism staff. “I’m excited about journalism because I will be able to express myself through writing,” said Ali. She is ready to be able to learn about what goes on in a journalism atmosphere, while taking in information and advice about her writing. She is thrilled to finally be a senior!

Kayla Cates
Kayla Cates is a senior year here at Madison Academic. She was welcomed to the world on October 16, 1993 to the lovely parents Jeff and Carol Cates who like to call hey KayKay for short. She was born in the local city of Memphis. She has one younger sister that she adores so much. She said, “I don’t know what I would ever do without her.”
During the summer Kayla worked at Brooskie’s Barn where she has been working for almost two years. She also babysat many kids, and she really enjoys the company. She went to the Tennessee River and that was the best part of her summer.
Kayla loves to read. You might catch in the lunch room with her eyes glued to a book. There is one thing you might not know about Kayla, she can turn her hand completely around. That is gross, right? Her favorite color is blue, and it has always been. When she gets older she wants to become a Nurse Practitioner. Hopefully she will achieve this and many other goals in her lifetime.

Seeley Jones
I’m a 17 year old senior at Madison. I’m on my second year at the Galloping Gazette. I do the announcements to help keep the students aware. I spend most of my free time either playing music, Xbox, or catching up on sleep. I am an experienced guitar player and recently picked up banjo for more variety. I plan on going to MTSU or the University of Memphis to major in Music Production/Business.

Aaliyah Hankins
Aaliyah is a senior this year at Madison. In the four years of high school, senior year is the most waited and desired out of all. As we all know, senioritis is a big problem when it comes to senior year, but Hankins plans on passing all classes, while having fun and making the best of her final year in high school.When asked her favorite subject, Aaliyah answered, “English because I like to read good books, and I like the English teachers at Madison.”
Aaliyah plays no sports for our school, but she loves to play football, basketball, and softball for the enjoyment. Hankins has been a proud member of the newspaper staff her junior and senior year. She joined the team to be more involved in Madison activities and to know all the first line information about our school first hand.
When asked where she sees herself in 10 years, Aaliyah stated in medical school working on her goal of becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Darius Curry
Darius Curry is a senior here at Madison. He plays football for JCM, and he is a well-known person here. If you don’t know him by now, surely you will soon.
During his spare time, Darius plays football and work at West TN Center for Oral and Facial. When I asked him what he plans on doing after high school, he replied that he wanted to go to UT Knoxville. I later asked him who he admired the most, and with thought and certainty, he said his “moms.” And do you know what? I think his moms would be very proud of his dreams. In 20 years, he hopes to be out of med school and a successful surgeon.
There are a couple of fun facts about him. If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Rome. What many people don’t know about him? People may not know that his favorite color is purple or that his is favorite hobby is football. Some may guess that he like to listen to rap music, but I doubt that they would guess that he likes to listen to country music.

Hannah Smothers
Hannah Smothers is a 17 year old from Holladay, Tennessee, and she has a six year old brother named Seth. Hannah is an employee at Hobby Lobby. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and people that make her happy. She enjoys listening to Christian music and watching movies. She loves a lot of movies, but Princess Bride is her favorite.
Hannah returned to Madison this year as a senior. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Roe. “Mr. Roe always tells his students to work hard and to do their very best in everything they pursue in life. He is a very encouraging teacher,” says Hannah. She enjoys the laid back atmosphere in newspaper. Out of the five high schools in Jackson, Hannah felt like Madison was the best option given and it offered the best preparation for college.
After Hannah graduates from high school, she plans to attend University of Memphis and major in Psychology. At some point, she plans to move to Africa and council women. Hannah is excited about these last months of school and has a lot to look forward to.

Niree French
Niree French is a senior here at Madison. She is a part of our Mustang Cheerleading Squad, and she says that cheerleading has always been one of her favorite activities. Aside from cheering, in her spare time she enjoys photography, hanging out with her friends, and shopping.
Her biggest fears about coming to Madison were not knowing whether she would have friends here, sitting in class for a long period of time, and being surrounded by older kids. Now that she is a senior, her biggest fear about leaving is once again being the little fish in the big pond. Niree said she isn’t as scared about leaving high school because her favorite teacher, Mr. Roe, has prepared her for college and “toughened” her up.

Destinee Boyd is a junior here at Madison. She was born on June 9, 1995, in Brownsville, TN. She has two sisters and one brother. In her spare time, she likes to paint her nails and hang out with her boyfriend. As most people know, she is in a relationship with senior, Jody Kinnes. They have been dating for a year and 10 months now. During summer break, Destinee went to Six Flags, visited the St. Louis Arch, and had her Sweet 16.
When asked why she chose to come to Madison, she said she came so that she could get prepared for college and to get a good education. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Barbara Fowler. Destinee joined the Galloping Gazette because she likes reporting news, and she wants to try something new.

Katie Gordon, a junior at Madison has a unique love for the art of journalism. Born on December 21, 1994; Katie has always enjoyed writing throughout her years. Another hobby of hers is dance, as she has been taking classes for the past nine years. She accredits her family as being her biggest supporters throughout her life. Katie hopes to have a future in the field of journalism and creative writing.

Renard Miles
Renard Miles is a senior here at Madison Academic. He was born in Jackson, TN April 4, 1993. He has one older sister named Britney. Renard’s favorite hobbies are listening to his music and being on Facebook.
He plans to go to either the University of Tennessee at Martin or the University of Memphis. He doesn’t want to get too far from home. Renard has his mind set later in life to become a FBI agent. His dream car is a blue Audi. His favorite sport is basketball. He assumes he can’t play basketball because he has never played on an actual basketball team. But who knows, he might be the next Kobe Bryant.
One day he plans to travel the world, but his main destination will be to visit South Africa. Renard Miles has many goals that he plans to accomplish throughout life.

Zanah Kent
Zanah Kent is a senior here at Madison Academic. She was born on April 5, 1994, in Sikeston, Missouri. Her parents are Jamie and Jarris Kent. She has one sibling, and her name is Brooklyn. She loves art, especially building 3D objects.
After she graduates, she would like to be either a Nurse Practitioner or a surgeon.
On the weekends, she goes to church, does her homework, and hangs out with friends. She loves action movies and all music, as long she thinks it’s good. Her favorite food is crab legs, and she also likes sushi.
Most people don’t know this, but she can play the flute. She also plays softball and volleyball. However, Zanah can’t whistle at all. Although she tries, it sounds as if air is blowing. This summer, she went to Kansas and St. Louis for family vacations.
She also went to some sports camps and babysat this summer. Her favorite color is red, and her favorite subject is science. She hates English classes the most. She has a dog named Diva that she’s had for three years.
She joined journalism because she likes to write. She’s the Co-Editor of the newspaper staff. Her favorite part about Madison Academic is the atmosphere and the people.
