Europe in the 19th century was a time of inventions, exquisite artwork, and astounding writers. Mrs. Hatcher’s modern European class recently captured the light of this era in their latest project assignment. The students were placed in small groups where they would recreate an invention or work of art from the 19th century time period. Bo Bolding, a sophomore, used cardboard box, shingle paper, a piano from a dollhouse, and music from his iPod to create a 19th century concert hall. “I got a deeper focus of how they lived and what their life was like in the time period,” says Bo.
Jane Bowman -Trentley, also a sophomore, created a replica of a working camera from the 19th century era. After about an hour of working she completed the project by using essentials such as a cardboard box and construction paper. Jane said, “I learned more about the 19th century camera and also more about working with a partner; I really enjoyed this project.” All of the student’s projects are currently on display- be sure stop by and have a look!
