The famous talk show host, Oprah Winfrey was completely criticized for promoting her new interview on Twitter last Sunday night.
As a new episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” appeared on OWN, Oprah’s new network, Oprah tweeted to her followers, “”Every 1 who can please turn to OWN especially if u have a Nielsen box.” Later, she posted a similar message saying, “Commercial Grammy people..u can turn to OWN.” The company Nielsen, who track television ratings, accused her of violating a policy against telling people to watch a certain program.

I don’t know if this criticism is completely fair  because people do that all of the time. I do not know if just because someone tells people to watch a certain program, people will actually watch it. It all depends on the preference of the watcher. A person who likes “Crime Scene Investigation” (CSI) and other shows similar is not going to watch a show about dogs, unless they like the television show; therefore, media influence can serve as a sort of irrelevancy.

Viewers can find this in the form of commercials. Do the people that make the commercials have the right to do this? They are also marketing a particular program. I just think that this is how you get people to participate in a viewing of a show. That is how shows get popular.

After Oprah removed Nielsen’s tweet from her tweet feed, she tweeted  response, “I intended no harm and apologize for the reference.”
