Students of Mrs. Hardin’s 3rd block Advanced Placement English IV class had the opportunity to show their gratitude while also using their vocal talents to sing “Happy Birthday” to her.

Thursday, February 09, 2012 Mrs. Hardin, the well-known English IV teacher at Madison, was surprised by her students as they waited patiently for her to come to the front lobby of the school. Upon Hardin’s arrival, her students stood in the front lobby to present her with her cake and a special happy birthday sung by none other than Madison First Class Choir.

“I knew they were up to something when the bell rang and my class was not in class,” said Mrs. Hardin. She also stated that she felt blessed considering all the trouble her students went through to plan her surprise party.

“It made me smile to see Mrs. Hardin smiling when she received her card and cake because it assured me that we were not in trouble,” said senior, Mikki Roberts.

One of the dominant questions that lingered in Hardin’s students mind was what was going to be Mrs. Hardin’s initial reaction when she noticed that her students were not in class. Senior Courtney Boykin stated, “I thought she was going to take the time to write each and every one of us up and then prepare a quiz for us to take.”

Mrs. Hardin’s 3rd block class would like to thank Ms. Mulvain, Ms. Epperson, and Mr. Guthrie for assisting them in calling Mrs. Hardin out of class in order for them to prepare for the surprise and to make it a special day for Mrs. Hardin.
