I am very proud to be named Miss Madison of 2012. The Madison Academic Magnet High School pageant was held on February 14, 2012 at 6:30p.m. By the end of the night, I was crowned queen.

Now, this process was not as easy as it seems. There was a lot of practicing, shopping, and hard work involved.

We had meetings with the pageant coordinator who is also the art teacher here at Madison, Mrs. Amy Doyle. During these meetings, we practiced walking, dance moves, and speeches. Also in order to participate in a pageant, you must also dedicate time to practice at home. My mother and grandmother practiced with me each night for a small amount of time with my speaking and walking.

As we prepared for the big night, our nerves were hitting us at an all-time high which inadvertently, brought us closer together. We were rushing back stage every chance we had to change into the different attires for the night.

The most memorable moment I had standing on the stage was making the top five.  I was the third name called and my heart was pounding like a drum. The top five girls were asked an interview question on the spot, unaware of the question that we would be asked. We had to answer the question in a creative way to the best of our ability.

The Mistress of Ceremonies for the night was   Camille Bratton. She was very nice and encouraging throughout the process. She will be running for Miss Tennessee in June. I wish her luck with that.

As the night came to an end, I was crowned Miss Photogenic and Miss Madison. I was also awarded for having the most sponsor money. The pageant was definitely a great experience.

During my reign, I plan to participate in more pageants and represent my school in a positive light. I truly consider this an honor.

Sincerely your Miss Madison, Niree French
